Mosquito Fish Gambusia Minnows Affinnis Ecological Mosquito Control Add these minnows to any place where
mosquitos may breed.
We need to protect our environment as much as we can. One
method that fish farmers utilize is through the use of Gambusia
minnows. The use of Gambusia “Mosquitofish” has none of the
disadvantages of insecticides. Most have heard of the “Mosquitofish”
which is the common name for Gambusia minnows. These little minnows eat
up to 300 mosquito larvae per day and are used primarily for vector
control or in other words mosquito control. They reproduce readily, 25
to 300 offspring every two weeks!Gambusia minnows will survive in areas where there are cold temperatures. Gambusia minnows, which are 1/2” - 2”, have been stocked in ponds and swamps, to prevent a breeding ground for mosquitoes that carry the West Nile Virus. Add these minnows to any place where mosquito may breed. Now I know that you have heard of the West Nile virus this year. The West Nile Virus threat won't end soon.
That news shouldn't result in unnecessary alarm, but it
should send a signal that reduce stagnant water where mosquitoes breed
and to protect yourself from being bitten from mosquitoes makes sense
for all of us.Most insecticides cannot be used in ponds or lakes where fish will be consumed for food. Insecticides can kill fish if not use as directed or if not used properly. Insecticides are expensive to use especially in comparison of the price of Gambusia minnows. And as you know applying insecticides requires special application equipment. Well no special equipment needed to put Gambusia minnows in your pond. Lakes usually require two or more treatments of insecticides per season, which certainly adds to expense. Now doesn’t it make good sense to use Gambusi minnows? Gambusia is only one tool that we should be using to control the West Nile Virus. One more effective option is to reduce the number of mosquito breeding grounds by eliminating standing water sources. All of us have got to learn to protect the environment. If everyone will try a little more to save the environment we might be here a little longer. Stocking bodies of water with fish that eat mosquito larva, will help to stop the West Nile Virus and save the environment. Call us to discuss your order!
