Laurel, MS 39440 601-425-4480 Stocking Ponds Over an Acre in Size Your choices for stocking
ponds size of over an acre or more are just about Unlimited! The only
recommendation that I have from my experience is that you need to not
choose the white perch or crappie to stock in a private ponds with low
fishing pressure. The white perch and crappie overpopulate so they are
not recommended to be in private owned ponds.
Bluegill, Bass, Catfish are all suitable for ponds larger than an acre. The recommended stocking rate is 1000 bream per water surface acre; 100 catfish per acre; 100 bass per acre. Hybrid bluegill should not be stocked in ponds over an acre because of the conversion back to the green sunfish. Thanks
for visiting!!!
